The Society of Edinburgh and Lothians Golf Captains


The Society was established in 1953 and is open to all Captains and Past-Captains (or Presidents and Past-Presidents) of clubs within the Lothians which are properly constituted in accordance with the requirements of Scottish Golf Limited It must have a distinct title as a club. Membership is by application to and approval by the Council of the Society. In total the Society has about 170 members. The primary aim of the Society is to foster and continue the friendships formed during the terms of office of all qualifying Golf Club Captains. A number of competitions are held during each calendar year at various courses within the locality as well as team matches.
The Society maintains close ties with The Society of Liverpool Golf Captains; The Society of Northumberland Golf Captains; The Stirlingshire Golf Captains, The Fife Golf Captains and the Association of Golf Club Managers.
Each year the Society makes charitable donations in support of junior golf.
The ruling Council consists of an annually elected President plus 2 Vice Presidents and 6 members. The day-to-day running of the society is undertaken by the Secretary.
